2ND Annual
20% NEW WORKS FESTIVAL
October 9-11, 2009

The LAWTP is thrilled to announce that we are gearing up for our 2nd Annual "20% NEW WORKS FESTIVAL" Last Year's festival showcased 14 shows and over 70 writers, directors, performers and other theatre professionals.

The 20% New Works Festival (20 being the percentage of women employed in theatre) is produced by The LA Women's Theatre Project to promote our mission of creating opportunities for women in the performing arts.

We are thrilled to announce that our 20% New Works Festival will be sponsored by


Honoring their 35th year of service to the Community

The Festival's Friday night opening show will be in celebration of their Anniversary and showcase their participation in women's history since the mid 1970's.

The LA Women's Theatre Project is a nonprofit organization that encompasses the works of all women, regardless of orientation. This sponsorship will bring us much needed support. The Lesbian News is a very well connected and respected business and will be of great benefit in making the weekend a major success.

The LN's Publisher, Ella Matthes and staff member Scarlett, are making major contributions, not only financially, but with their time and efforts to ensure the success of this event.

FESTIVAL SCRIPT
SUBMISSIONS:

We are accepting submissions
June 1st through July 15th
for the
20% New Works Festival

Guidelines:
1) Must be written by a woman
2) Not previously produced material
3) No cast limit (male or female) but
piece must have at least one central,
leading character/role that is female.
4) Must be of interest and/or benefit to women
5) Must be a live performance piece (i.e. stage play, music, comedy, or solo presentation)
6) While artistic license is acceptable, can not be demeaning or derogatory towards women in general.

— Approximate length for each submission should be between 15 and 120 minutes.

We will begin putting the individual shows together in August, casting, rehearsals, etc. The Festival is scheduled for
October 2009 in the Hollywood area.
